In this action, brought under 42 U.S.C. sec. 1983, Raymond Garvin, a former inmate of the DuPage County (Illinois) jail, alleges that Dr. John Oberhelman, the medical director at the jail, was deliberately indifferent to his serious medical need for an asthma inhaler. The district court granted summary judgment for Dr. Oberhelman. Garvin has taken asthma medication for many years. When he entered the jail on March 20, 1997, however, his inhaler was taken away from him as a result of jail policy. He remained at the jail until July 17, 1997.
